Now, I want to tell you something about the Internet.

First of all I’ll list the requirements for an access to the Internet. For an access you need a multimedia computer with at least 66 megahertz and sixteen megabyte ram. Then you require a modem, an ISDN – host adapter or a DSL-Modem and a connection to Telecom. Modem stands for modulator and demodulator, ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network and DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. DSL is the newest and fastest form to surf in the Internet. For the surfing you need a browser software like Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer. This software is usually free.
But you need a security software too. A security software is programme which saves you during the surf in the Internet. If you don’t have a security software you get a virus or spyware. A virus can damages your computer and a spyware can spies your activities on you computer. The newes technology is voip. Voip stands for voice over IP. With voip you can phone over the Internet Protocol.
It is cheaper than normal telephone.

When you have bought the requirements you have to choose an Internet service provider. An Internet service provider offers the access to the Internet. You can choose a provider at a store or you have to call him. After some days, you get a letter from the provider which contains your personal login name and password.

The costs are low, you must pay less 20€ per month for an access to the Internet.

Now I want to tell you something about the history and the development. Internet is known by everybody since 1995, but the setting up was in 1969. The name of the net in the seventies was Arpanet and it was developed for the military and the science. It serves just for communication.
In the seventies there was a boom, because a lot of universities became connected to the Internet. The scientists detects the enormous advantage in fast communication one below the other. So a standardised language was fixed. This language is called TCP/IP which means, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol and it’s still the norm.
In the eighties more and more software was developed for terminal connections. A some years later the text-oriented Gopher was finalised. Gopher is predecessor of the World Wide Web. More and more software for amateurs was made, this allows everybody a connection to the Internet.

World Wide Web

The World Wide Web is a Hypertext system, which means that there are a lot of coloured words, called Hyperlinks. When you click on the link you surf to an other site. This makes the WWW (W3) so easy and user-friendly. The World Wide Web is the most popular service of the Internet. A lot of people don’t know any other service, except for eMail.

The description language of the WWW is the Hyper Text Markup Language, called HTML.

For receiving a site on your computer you need a browser software. The most popular browsers are the Mozilla Firefox and the Microsoft Internet Explorer. They are not very different. Both have got several icons, a field, where you can enter the address and some pull-down menus.

A useful tool is the bookmark function. Bookmarked sites were able to receive very fast, because you haven’t enter the address, but also click on the menu and choose the bookmark. To produce one, you usually have to press a shortcut.

All received sites are saved in the history of the browser. This files could be deleted by hand or automatically after a defined time. When you want to visit a site again, you must click on the history and choose the address you want.

There are a lot of search engines in the World Wide Web, to get information about special things. The most famous search engines are Google, MSN. All of these have got forms to enter the search word. For a more precision result you could combine some words.

The Internet is a brilliant invention for everybody. Everybody is able to surf in the World Wide Web, download programs or send messages to friends. It helps you to pass the time, for your education and so on.

Thank you for your attention. I hope it was a little bit interesting for you.

Now, I want to tell you something about the Internet.

First of all, the requirements for accessing the internet. Therefor you need a computer with at least 66 megahertz and sixteen megabyte of ram. Besides you need a modem, an ISDN – host adapter or a DSL-Modem and an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Modem is the abbreviation for modulator and demodulator, ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network and DSL is the short form of Digital Subscriber Line. DSL is the newest and fastest way to connect to the Internet. For surfing you need a browser software like Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer. This software is usually for free (oder free of charge).
But you also need a software which protects your computer against viruses and other malicious software. Viruses can harm your computer seriously. Spyware is designed to spy on your (internet) activities. The newest technology is voip. Voip stands for voice over IP. With voip you can phone over the Internet Protocol. It is cheaper than normal telephone. (Zusammenhang? Zuerst Surfen, dann ohne Absatz einfach weiter mit VoIP?)

After having bought the hardware, it's time to choose an isp. An Internet service provider offers access to the Internet. The big ones are Telekom (T-Online) and One-and-One (1&1). The monthly base fees are low, usually less than 20€. Additional fees depend on how frequently you use their services.

Now I want to tell you something about the history and the development of the internet. It is known to everybody since 1995, but was originally setup in 1969. In thoses days it was called Arpanet and it was developed for the military and science. It served just for communication purposes.
In the seventies, there was a boom, because a lot of universities were connected to the Internet. The scientists detected the enormous advantages of real-time communications and a standardised language was agreed on. That language was called TCP/IP which stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. TCP/IP is still in use today and without it, even today no internet connectivity would be possible.
In the eighties more and more software was developed for terminal connections. Some years later the text-oriented Gopher was finalised. Gopher is predecessor of the World Wide Web. With increasing focus on the development of software for home users, the internet became useful for everybody.

World Wide Web

The World Wide Web is a Hypertext system, which means that there are a lot of coloured words, called Hyperlinks. (hypertext ist mehr als nur hyperlinks...) When you click on the link you surf to an other site. This makes the WWW (W3) so easy and user-friendly. The World Wide Web is the most popular service of the Internet. A lot of people don’t know any other services, except for eMail.

The description language of the WWW is the Hyper Text Markup Language, called HTML.

For receiving a site on your computer you need a browser software. The most popular browsers are Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer. They do not differ a lot. Both have got a toolbar with icons, a textbox where you can enter the address and some pull-down menus.

The bookmark feature allows you to save the urls of sites you visit frequently. When using that feature, you do not have to type in the whole url, just click on the site's name in your browser's menubar and your browser will get you immediatly to the desired site.

There are a lot of search engines in the World Wide Web to get information about special things. The most famous ones are Google and MSN. So if you do not know where to find information on the internet, just surf to Google, enter your search term (=the thing you are looking for) and hit Enter and have the search engine search for you!

The Internet is a brilliant invention. Everybody is able to surf in the World Wide Web, download programs or send messages to friends.

Thank you for your attention. I hope it was a little bit interesting for you.

Viel Erfolg! ;)

The costs are low, you must pay less 20€ per month for an access to the Internet.

Rechtschreibung? Naja, viel Ahnung hab ich nimmer, is scho zu lang her.
Viel Spass!

Ach so.
Viel Spass! :)

Also, on (auf) dem Internet schon mal auf keinen Fall. In welchem Zusammenhang brauchst du es?
I'm surfing in the Internet.
A download through the Internet.
Erzähl mal den Satz :P

Stefanra, bist du sicher das On?
