der neue Release bringt spannende Features: SMB3 Unix-Extensions sind jetzt standardmäßig aktiv, was für bessere POSIX-Kompatibilität sorgt (Symlinks, Hardlinks, Rechtehandling). Dazu kommt eine verbesserte Netzwerkunterstützung für stabilere Verbindungen auch in schwierigen Netzen. mehr dazu in den Release-Notes vgl. unten.

Samba: ist eine Open-Source-Implementierung der SMB- und Active-Directory-Protokolle. Es stellt Datei- und Druckdienste für Linux- und UNIX-ähnliche Systeme bereit und macht diese damit auch für Nicht-Windows-Systeme verfügbar. Da das SMB-Protokoll von praktisch allen Windows-Betriebssystemen sowie von macOS unterstützt wird, können solche Clients nahtlos an Unix-/Linux-Fileserver angebunden werden. Darüber hinaus ermöglicht Samba auch die Integration in Windows-Domänen und kann selbst als Domain Controller fungieren.

Starting with Samba 4.23, the SMB3 UNIX Extensions are enabled by
default. These extensions provide first-class support for POSIX semantics
over SMB3, allowing UNIX and Linux clients to access file services with
features such as proper POSIX permissions, symlink handling, hardlinks,
and special file types.
Enabling this feature by default improves interoperability for UNIX/Linux
clients without requiring additional configuration. Windows clients that
do not support the extensions will continue to function normally, by
using standard SMB3 behavior.
