Nützliches Programm, um im Netz trotz wechselnder IP fast permanent unter einer bestimmten Adresse erreichbar zu sein – insbesondere für Anwender mit einem kleinen Web- oder FTP-Server zuhause sehr nützlich. Neben dem Programm wird außerdem ein kostenloser Account mit Hostname bei DynDNS oder einem anderen Anbieter dynamischer Domain-Name-System-Einträge benötigt.
Das Programm kann die eigene IP selbstständig in vorgegebenen Intervallen sowie nach Verbindungsabbrüchen ermitteln – hierzu stehen mehrere Methoden zur Auswahl, so dass für jede Konfiguration eine entsprechende Lösung möglich sein sollte – und diese dann – gegebenenfalls nach neuer Einwahl durch das Programm – für mehrere Hostnames in der Datenbank des Anbieters aktualiseren. Je nach Belieben lässt sich das Programm entweder als reguläre Anwendung oder auch als Service betreiben.
