This special driver is provided to enable additional functionality for Oblivion. Specifically this driver will:


1. Permit High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDR) concurrently with Anti-Aliasing (AA) on RADEON X1000 series graphic boards

2. AFR mode for CrossFire (2 GPU’s)


Note: You will need to enable HDR and disable AA in Oblivion while enabling AA within the Catalyst Control Center. This package does not include Catalyst Control Center.

This driver is provided as a proof-of-concept and is not supported by Bethesda, 2K games or ATI Technologies.

Known issues:

1. SuperAA with CrossFire in HDR mode is not enabled. If you have SuperAA enabled you will get the quality and performance of one card as opposed to two.

2. Rendering issues with grass shadows

3. On an ATI Radeon X1600XT CrossFire configuration, the game may intermittently crash if the resolution is set higher than 1600x1200

4. On an ATI Radeon X1900 series card, the game may crash while task-switching between the desktop and game (alt-tab).


ATI Engineering is currently investigating these issues. Updates will be posted as they become available.

Configure a system with a RADEON X1900 Crossfire master edition graphics card and a RADEON X1900 series secondary on a Dell 2405FPW using the DVI connection. Launch the Catalyst Control Center in Advanced View and enable the Crossfire option.

After enabling Crossfire, launching a 3D application or game may result in the monitor losing a signal, or the application may exiting back to the desktop.

Other panels may be affected. This issue occurs when Crossfire operation has been enabled, and when connected through DVI.

A special driver has been made available to address this issue. Please note that this driver is not supported by ATI Customer Care. All feedback should be reported via the Catalyst Crew Feedback Program.

First things first - There will be no CATALYST 6.7-based release of ATI's 'Chuck' patch. The reason for this is simple enough - When 'Chuck' isn't busy saving the world one pixel or a time, or using his ninja skills to spy on Technical Marketing Manager Dave Baumann, he's pretty busy integrating the code from the 'Chuck' patch into official drivers to be WHQL certified, and thus it has been decided that resources are better spent there to get this ready as soon as possible rather than 'fire-fighting' by releasing a non-WHQL driver containing the 'Chuck' patch each and every month. So, for the time being, if you want to play Oblivion with both High Dynamic Range rendering and anti-aliasing, you'll have to stick with the CATALSYT 6.6-based edition of the driver, which is available here.
