ich weiß, heute ist es nicht mehr kompliziert linux distr. (zb ubuntu) zu installieren.
trotzdem bin ich froh, das die installation parallel zu meinem (wichtigen) win xp geklappt hat.
alles was soll, funktioniert (wlan, firefox, thunderbird, o. office software nachzuinstallieren usw).
trotzdem wollte ich hier fragen, wie ich auf meine datenpartition (ntfs) zugreifen kann. ausserdem, wie ich den gnu bootloader in den win bootmanager eintragen kann oder es eve. grafischen gibt, oder die option einstellen kann das win xp automatisch nach 10 sek. bootet.
desweiteren wie ich ein dvd abspielprogramm (zb. vcl) mit den dazu gehörigen codecs insatalliere.

für konstruktive antworten bin ich dankbar.

so jetzt schlaf ich erstmal und dann freue ich mich auf die antworten und nach der brn mache ich weiter mit ubuntu.

gegoogelt und gelesen wird natürlich auch.

also für ntfs gibt es captive!
den bootloader müssteste irgendwo in den einstellungen ändern können

hat er denn die ntfs-platte schon von haus aus eingebunden? wie oben schon angemerkt, gibt es da was, wirklich sicher ist es aber nicht und somit nicht wirklich zu empfehlen. lesen der ntfs-platte stellt mit boardmitteln kein problem dar.

damit auch du jetzt am eigenen leib erfahren darfst, was es heißt wenn wein quasi-monopolist seine stellung am markt ausnutzt, wirst du das eintragen in win bootloader vergessen können. obwohl ich dir ganz klar sagen muss, dass grub viel besser ist. rufe über die konsole einfach mal: "sudo gedit" auf. navigiere zu: "/boot/grub/menu.lst" und suche den eintrag timeout. setze ihn auf eine beliebige zahl.

wenn du alle quellen freigemacht hast, auch über automatix, dann wirst du den vlc und benötigte dinge für dvd finden. ich kann dir den mplayer ans herz legen, leider haut der nur richtig auf den schlamm, wenn man ihn selber kompiliert. als anfänger will ich dich damit nicht zubombem, obwohl ich schon welche gesehen haben, die am ersten tag den compiler gefüttert haben.

als tipps für dich als anfänger hätte ich:
1. mische nicht kde-programme mit gnome-programmen. bleibe bei gtk-programmen, weil es bei mischbetreib schnell den ram unnötig zumüllt.
2. gucke dir das tool automatix an.

vlc + codecs funktioniert. bis auf dvd wiedergabe. gibts da einen trick oder link? auf der ubuntu seite habe ich nichts gefunden.

ich glaub da fehlt dir noch was

VLC benutzt libdvdcss um alle DVDs zu lesen, wobei die Zone ignoriert wird. Alle Regionen werden ohne Einschränkung unterstützt. Dies funktioniert nicht immer einhundertprozentig sicher und kann einige Zeit brauchen, bis die DVD startet.


schau mal ob du die libdvdcss hast bez such mal nach libdvd* (und vieleicht auch nach *dvd* in dem Programm für die Softwareverwaltung

Also Linux kann man ohne Probleme mit dem NTLDR (Windows Bootmanager) starten. Dazu kannst du z.B. diese Anleitung verwenden. Ob Lilo oder Grub verwendet wird ist egal, es funktionieren beide.

Aber natürlich ist Grub aufjedenfall zu bevorzugen. Ein großer Vorteil von Grub ist ja, dass man die Bootbefehle im Bootmenü noch ändern kann, ohne die Konfiguationsdatei zu bearbeiten.

Zum Default Problem: Du musst den Wert "default 0" ändern, in 4

NTFS-Partitionen kannste so einbinden (aber nur Lesen, nicht Schreiben!):

sudo mkdir /media/windows_c
sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/hda1 /media/windows_c (hda1 musste halt ersetzen).

den wert von "default" stellst du auf eins, dann bootet nach 10 sek automatisch Windows.

betreff bootloader:

@ichbines hast recht mit default 4 win xp start,
default 1 startet nämlich Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-23-386 (recovery mode) bei mir.

ich glaub, ich hole mir erstmal ein buch zu linux. kann ja nicht jeden tag hier
rumnerven mit meinen anfänger fragen. :wink:

dvd und ntfs lasse ich erstmal. muss erstmal so klarkommen.

Theroretisch würde das schon stimmen.

Allerdings gibt es noch folgende Einträge:

Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-23-386 (recovery mode)
Ubuntu, memtest86+
Other operating systems:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional

XP ist der 5. Eintrag, aber Grub beginnt immer bei 0 zu zählen...

Diese anderen Einträge kannst du aber ohne Probleme auskommentieren, da du diese im Normalfall nie brauchst.

Zum Buch: Am besten holst du dir das Buch vom Kofler. Das ist ein Buch für Anfänger, was wirklich von jeden empfohlen wird, auch von den Zeitschriften, Internetseiten und Foren. Und so teuer ist es auch nicht, 40 Euro für 1344 Seiten.

wie kann ich was auskommentieren damit nur
