Microsoft Windows Command Shell "Monad" Beta 2

Nachdem Anfangs Juni bereits eine erste Beta von Monad nur für Beta-Tester zu Verfügung stand (WinFuture berichtete darüber), gibt es jetzt eine zweite Beta die im Download Center zur Verfügung steht. Zum Download ist allerdings eine Registrierung erforderlich (Microsoft Passport Account erforderlich).

"Monad" Shell provides powerful task-based control (via built-in command line tools and utilities) and a powerful scripting language that enables comprehensive scripted control of the Windows operating system and applications. The key features of Monad include
- Simplified command-based navigation of the operating system (including drives, startup files, and registry).
- Command extensibility that allows administrators to quickly write scripts, customize commands, and author their own shell tools.
- Powerful object manipulation capabilities (objects can be directly manipulated or pipelined to other tools or databases).
- Direct control of system data (without the need to perform error-prone text parsing and object lookup).
- Powerful aliasing and output formatting capabilities.
- Support for existing scripts and command line tools.

Microsoft Windows PowerShell ist eine neue Befehlszeilenshell und Skriptsprache für die Systemverwaltung und -automatisierung. Windows PowerShell basiert auf .NET Framework und ermöglicht IT-Spezialisten, Computer durch Befehle oder Skripts zu verwalten und die Produktivität zu erhöhen.

Windows PowerShell bietet folgende Features:
- 129 Befehlszeilentools (so genannte "cmdlets") für allgemeine Systemverwaltungsaufgaben, wie die Verwaltung von Diensten, Prozessen, Ereignisprotokoll, Zertifikaten, der Registrierung und der Windows-Verwaltungsinstrumentation (WMI).
- Die Befehlszeilentools können leicht erlernt und verwendet werden, da Standardnamenskonventionen und übliche Parameter sowie einfache Tools zum Sortieren, Filtern und Formatieren von Daten und Objekten eingesetzt werden.

Ich weiss nicht, ob es hier richtig ist. Falls nicht, bitte verschieben.

Also, Windows update bietet mir folgenden download an: Windows PowerShell 1.0 für Windows XP (KB926140). Meine simple Frage: Brauche ich als einfacher User, der weder programmiert noch websites gestaltet, das Tool überhaupt? Oder schaffe ich damit bloss einen weiteren möglichen Angriffspunkt für Hacker, script-kiddies & Co.? Ist ja immerhin ein script.

Die PowerShell ist mehr als nur ein Script. Das ganze ist im Prinzip eine weiterentwickelte Eingabeaufforderung, welche gegenüber der klassischen Eingabeaufforderung (cmd.exe) viele neue Features mit sich bringt und auch erweiterbar ist. Mit Website Gestaltung und Programmieren an sich hat die PowerShell nichts zu tun, auch wenn es hier von Vorteil sein kann, wenn man Programmieren kann. Dann kann man die PowerShell bequem erweitern.

Ob Du die PowerShell benötigst oder nicht, hängt eigentlich mehr davon ab, ob Du viel in der Konsole und mit Batch Dateien (*.bat bzw. *cmd) arbeitest und an die Grenzen gestoßen bist. Wenn Du nichts in der Richtung machst bzw. der Funktionsumfang der klassischen Eingabeaufforderung reicht, bringt Dir die PowerShell nichts.
