Almost two years ago I stepped onto a pier in Seattle to unveil Opera 9 to the world. It's time for maintenance - we have been fixing several of the most reported issues in 9.50 - including a rather nasty crash on Yahoo Mail. Have fun testing - and as always, we'd appreciate feedback.

More fixes in the pipeline for 9.51! As always, we appreciate constructive feedback. Main focus was on stability and the installer - some issues that users have encountered when upgrading from 9.27 should now be finally solved.

Changelog:

• Security status should be now always correctly set when navigating from HTTP to HTTPS.
  
• Fixed an issue related to OCSP and CRLs that would lower security level - Yngve has a detailed article. You'll have to manually check for updates to activate this fix.
  
• Fixed an issue in the content blocker that might cause no page to be loaded anymore.
  
• Fixed a crash on Yahoo! Mail (now really!).
  
• Fixed a crash with userjs.

You haven't seen my face around here before, but Olli felt it was time I made a timely appearance, so here I am! I work in Desktop QA, doing cross-platform stuff, with my feet deeply planted in the Mac-part of our little camp. We have a new snapshot ready for you, with some nice fixes and improvements!

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: it contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

Known Issues:
May crash when showing certain certificate dialogs.

Changelog:

General
Added ability to open mailto links in webmail providers, such as Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and Windows Live Hotmail.
Fixed loading web pages when clicking on a link while the document still is loading.
Fixed "Bookmark All Open Pages" action.
Fixed skin color schemes - you can use your favorite color scheme again!
"Lock Tab" icon should now be better visible on locked tabs.
Several stability fixes.

Opera Mail
Improved message composition window context menu.
Fixed loss of mail drafts if several drafts were open when closing Opera.
Fixed sending link by mail in plain text format.
Improved message encoding detection.
Fixed several bugs in the compose window related to navigation and editing (also applies to designMode and contentEditable).

Windows-specific
Fixed problem with text styled with opacity.

For those who'd like a sneaky-peek at the development of the new Opera 10 skin for Windows and Mac, this is the snapshot build for you!

Things to bear in mind while you're playing with this:
What you see here is neither complete nor final, and there will be more iterations before the final release. Some elements will still look like the current skin!
Currently the skin is implemented for the default setup, tabs at the top, panels on the left, panel toolbar on the left and status bar at the bottom. Other setups will look a bit odd - for now.
This build doesn't include the new features in Opera 10, so one of the reasons for the revised skin isn't there. All we be clear when the beta comes out!

A more descriptive post about the thinking behind the new skin, and why we're changing it will follow with the beta. For now, give it time to 'settle down' and see what you think!

We have also hit another issue no other browser has run into (yet!). By reaching the version number 10 we have noticed several high-profile sites and frameworks breaking because of wrong browser sniffing. Opera 10 gets (erroneously!) detected as... Opera 1. We have modified the UA string to read

Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux i686; U; en) Presto/2.2.15 Version/10.00

(or similar - depending on your platform). The "real" version is added at the end of the string. We will publish a more detailed explanation of this soon. Please let us know if you come across some web sites that break now because of this change!

There are several issues with the skin: Speed Dial is unfinished, there are missing/outdated icons, some things may be placeholders/work in progress, and so on

Habe die gerade am laufen. Was die Geschwindigkeit angeht: ich weiss nicht was sie gemacht haben, aber es war genial! Schnell, verdammt schnell. Weiterhin sind auch endlich die Leisten 40% wenn man die Icons auf 40% stellt.
