#17: Den link habe ich gleich in mein supportforum getan.
#14: Könntest du mir freundlicherweise das logfile /var/log/SYS_Linux.install.log schicken ? Ich möchte es analysieren, insbesondere sehen was mit Vbox anders ist als mit einem echten Rechner, um falls wirklich geboten das Install-Programm zu ändern
Das Install-Programm kann man sich angucken im RESCUE-Modus, #mc : init , mkpart , copysys
Bitte alle Probleme bei Installationen mitteilen, denn ich bereite schon die nächste Version vor

nette distri aber das testen in der vmware war nicht wirklich einfach.
leider rattern die kernel-panics lediglich auf dem bildschirm durch und werden nicht mit ins logfile geschrieben.

schau halt ob du es in der vmware hinbekommst.
naja und es wäre sinnvoll doch erstmal nach einer sprache zu fragen oder zumindest english als erstes anzubieten. du willst es den anwendern doch möglichst leicht machen.

Aus diesem Grund hatte ich in o.g. post geschrieben, daß SYS anscheinend mit Vbox funktioniert, aber mit VMware definitiv nicht; Letzteres nach Berichten mehrerer 'Spezialisten' und 'Professionellen' (eigene Bezeichnung) in einem anderen Forum von denen angeblich niemand es zum Laufen gebracht hat. Nach Beheben vorgenanntem Mißverständnis, funktioniert also gemäß post #14 SYS auch mit VMware - wenn auch mit Schwierigkeiten
Ferner bin ich - sicherlich sachlich und auch weiterhin korrekt - der Auffassung, daß, wenn die Installation auf zahlreichen echten (nicht-virtuellen) Rechnern klappt - wenn auch mit kernel-panic endet - wie ich hier in meiner Umgebung sehe, aber mit VMware nicht, daß das dann ein Fehler von VMware und seiner unzureichenden Emulation eines phys. Rechners ist, und nicht von SYS ... Wenn ein Programm mit W$ funktioniert, aber nicht mit wine, ist das ja auch eine Unzulänglichkeit von wine, und nicht vom Programm ...
Der kernel-crash kommt erst, wenn man trotz 2x Aufforderung das DVD rauszunehmen und mit CTRL-ALT-DEL rebooten, nicht nachkommt, siehe sogar auf der Abb. zu post #12 (Aufforderung in der Mitte) . Bei phys. Rechnern ist das belanglos, da die Installation fertig und sowieso zu rebooten ist. VMware sollte das auch korrekt abfangen.
Wenn eine neue Partition gemacht wird, ist das logfile in /var/log/SYS_Linux.install.log. Um das logfile zu erhalten, wenn keine Partition gemacht wurde, darf man dagegen NICHT mit CTRL-ALT-DEL rausgehen, sondern startet das rescue-system, dann darin die Installation mit ./init , und beendet sie nach Rausnahme des CDs mit CTRL-C und Eintippen von exit oder logout um wieder zurück ins rescue-System zu kommen, dort ist dann das logfile
Bei der nächsten Version baue ich ein daß (falls nicht CTRL-ALT-DEL zum rebooten eingegeben wird) statt kernel-absturz ins rescue-System gegangen wird. Aber die ggw. Version ist nun einmal so, und funktioniert bei phys. Rechnern auch korrekt. Daß bei VMware manchmal keine Partition machen würde, bedeutet daß die Installation damit nicht richtig funktioniert; um zu sehen/verbessern warum, bräuchte ich ein logfile.

Ich analysiere das logfile jetzt. Falls das sonst noch jemand tun möchte: Install-DVD starten, in rescue-mode gehen, #mc, die Dateien mkpart , copysys (ggf noch das sie aufrufende init) ansehen, die machen die Installation und erzeugen das logfile. De facto wird bei der Installation viel probiert, das hatte sich bei Vorversuchen als das Beste erwiesen. So wird u.a. ausprobiert, welche CDs und Harddisks da sind; unter welchem File-System die Partitionen erfolgreich mountbar sind, usw. Dies hat sich für erheblich zuverlässiger erwiesen als Informationen aus dmesg oder den /proc -Dateien herauszupopeln.
Damit die Installation gelingt, muß rd. 10,5 GB freier Platz einrichtbar sein. Entweder nicht-partitioniert, oder partitioniert und resizebar (= formatiert mit einem bekannten Dateityp, und nicht ganz mit Daten voll). Vorrangig versucht das Install-Programm nicht-partitionierten Platz zu finden; falls nicht genügend möglich, versucht es, formatierte und teilweise gefüllte Partitionen zu redimensionieren. Wenn beides nicht klappt, gelingt die Installierung nicht.
Zumindest bei phys. (nicht-virtuellen) Rechnern ist es ziemlich undenkbar, daß die Partition nach dem reboot verschwindet. Was schon vorkam, ist, daß entweder überhaupt keine Partition gemacht wird, oder zwar eine Partition gemacht aber das System dort nicht hinkopiert wurde. Das passiert mE aber nur dann, wenn entweder nicht 10,5 GB Platz machbar sind, oder Festplatte oder DVD-Drive nicht gefunden werden (insbesondere wenn sie andere Bezeichnungen als hdX, sdX, srX haben -- nur diese sind momentan eingebaut).
Wenn solche oder irgendwelche Probleme mit Programm X bei phys. Rechnern nicht auftreten, aber unter VMware, dann ist das ein Fehler von VMware und nicht von Programm X. Wenn die Simulation/ein Modell der Wirklichkeit nicht gelingt, ist das ein Fehler der Simulation, nicht der Wirklichkeit. Wie schon gesagt: wenn ein Programm unter W$ läuft, aber nicht unter wine, ist das ein Fehler von wine, nicht vom Programm. Hier ebenso: wenn unter VMWare etwas nicht funktioniert was auf phys. (echten) Rechnern funktioniert, ist das ein Fehler von VMware und nicht von SYS. Das ist vollkommen klar und diskutiere ich nicht weiter. In diesem Fall ist es eigentlich auch Aufgabe von VMware das Problem dort zu beheben, und nicht von mir in SYS, andererseits stelle ich mich auch nicht quer und wenn einfach behebbar erweitere ich auch gerne das SYS Install-Programm (beispielsweise wenn die Partitionen nicht /dev/hda sondern /dev/vma o.ä. heißen, bau ich das gerne in die Geräte-Such-Schleife ein). Die Frage ist allerdings, ob überhaupt und inwieweit die Installation unter VMware fehlschlägt, denn es liegen ja auch positive Berichte vor. Möglicherweise gelingt ja die Installation, verkraftet VMware aber [nur] den abschließenden Kernel-Panic nicht, hängt dann/stürzt dann ab zusammen mit dem phys. Rechner, und löscht dann auch die Partition

wie kann man denn so verbohrt sein?
so viele distris laufen in vmware. nur deine nicht richtig. warum testest du es nicht einfach selber?
und das beispiel mit wine hinkt gewaltig. wine hat inzwischen alle offiziellen api-funktionen abgebildet. was nicht läuft (wie z.b. ms-office), nutzt inoffizielle win-api-funktionen die nur ms kennt.
aber da ms seinen office-code nicht raus rückt, müssen wine-entwickler per reverse-engeniering der sache auf den grund gehen und workarounds bilden.
und genau so ein workaround erwarte ich von dir für vmware.
deine distri sah am anfang noch gut und ergeizig aus. aber dein ständiges gelaber und deine uneinsichtigkeit läßt mich jetzt ganz schnell abstand halten.
wenn ein entwickler erst sein produkt vorstellt und dann nicht mit kritik umgehen kann, hat das ding keinen sinn mehr.

Aber BEIDE Seiten haben zu lernen, besser mit Kritik umzugehen.
Aber bitte: was ich lediglich verlange, ist sachliche, konstruktive Kritik, zBsp Protokolle um Fehler zu finden, statt nur unkonkretes Gemecker . Denn das nützt niemandem was.
Endlich ein logfile !!!!!! Und ebenso wie auch die erste Meldung daß es doch mit vbox geht, in DIESEM Forum ! Warum kam das nicht auch in dem anderen ? Das logfile analysiere ich momentan. Einen Fehler meinerseits habe ich schon gefunden: das Programm verlangt rd. 11,38 GB Platz, statt nur 10,5 GB (Umfang der Software) da es diesen sicherheitshalber etwas üppig berechnet, insofern waren Versuche/Abstürze mit 10 GB meine Schuld.
Aber momentan bin ich noch bei der Analyse !
