Hi,

also ich fummel nun schon hier seit 2 Tagen an Ubuntu rum mein Wlan einzurichten. Erst hat ich 6.10 und nun wie viele 7.04 sooo. Ich habe schon mehre Guides probiert aber es klappt einfach nicht. Per Direct Link Kabel komm ich online aber nicht per Wlan. Ich habe ein Netgear WG511 (Made in China) Model was wie bekannt leider ein kleiner Problemfall bei Linux ist. Aber es soll trotzdem irgend wie gehen.

Also wie habe ich angefangen?

Ich hab zu erst Ndiswrapper-utils, ndiswrapper common, wpasupplicant installiert. Dann musste ich wie im guide beschrieben die WIndows Treiber von meiner Netgear per ndisw installieren. In jedem guide steht das man das über die treiber CD machen soll. Da ich nur Treiber aus dem Netz habe. Bin ich per "cd /home/name/wg511v2" (natürlich per root) in den Ordner im Terminal gegangen und habe dann ndiswrapper -i wg511v2.INF eingegeben. Dann stand auch dort install wg511v2...

So ja dann hab ich ndiswrapper -hotplug und danach ndiwswrapper -m eingegeben damit das ganze eingetragen wird. Ein kleiner Test mit "Ndiswrapper -l" und es stand dann irgend was von wg511v2 driver installed oder so. ( Aber nicht wie es eigentlcih sein solle mit Driver present) Kann natürlich sein, dass es an der 7.04 Version liegt.

So mit WPA wollte ich mich erstmal nicht rum quälen in Linux also hab ich für kurze Zeit mal der WPA Verschlüsselung im Router ausgestellt und ja dann reboot und dann mal geschaut. Aber ich komm immer noch nicht online. Ich hab auch in den Netzwerkeinstellungen bei Wlan0 ip und gateway einegtragen. Es geht aber nicht, was mach ich falsch?

Edit: Ich hab natürlich nach dem reboot per "sudo modprobe ndiswrapper" das Programm neu geladen. Per Echo wollte ich das erst machen wenn alles klappt.

Ist dieser Network-manager nicht schon von haus auf vor installiert bei 7.04? Wenn ja wo find ich den?

ich kenne ihn nur aus der 6.xx Reihe noch und damit lies sich Wlan einfacher einrichten. Einfahc in deiner Paketverwaltung nachschaun.

Ja ist schon mit bei. Da drüber kann man sogar WPA Verschlüsselung einrichten. Aber dennoch, es will einfach nicht.

Schau nach "sudo modprobe ndiswrapper" mal per "dmesg", was der Kernel ausgibt.

Hab ein ähnliches Problem. Scheinbar wurde meine WLAN-Karte (Belkin F5D7001) erkannt. Kann über das Netzwerksymbol oben rechts ein Funknetzwerk einrichten. Nach Eingabe der Daten möchte er sich verbinden, dies klappt jedoch nicht.

wenn Du schon eine Krise wegen schlechter Wlan Hardware bekommst,
warum tauschst Du nicht einfach die Wlan Hardware gegen eine Funktionierende um?
Vielleicht kannst Du die Wlan Hardware, die nicht funktioniert
sogar zurückgeben und Dir das Geld wiedergeben lassen?

Das wäre das Sinnvollste,
auch damit Hardware Hersteller endlich mal merken,
das sie die Spezifikationen offenlegen müssen.
Anders ist solcher Problemhardware auf Dauer nicht beizukommen!

Erzähle mir nicht, das es bei Windows beser sei,
Benutzer von Problemhardware sind da mindestens
genauso in den Popo gekniffen.
(Z.B. will Creative keine Audigy Treiber für Windows Release "Vista" machen!)

Am besten mit Xine abspielen und im Vollbild
noch dazu goom als Visualisierung benutzen.
(entspannende psydelische Nebenwirkungen nicht ausgeschlossen!)


Auch in vielen Laptops lassen sich die Wlan Karten gegen bessere
Hardware auswechseln, da sind oft Mini-PCI Wlan Karten verbaut.
Unbedingt auf den Chipsatz der Wlan Karte achten
und vorher nachgucken, ob es da Treiber für gibt!

Wlan-Karten gibt es heutzutage doch für ein Appel und ein Ei.
Oder einfach weiter Kabel benutzen,
ist sowieso ein Sicherheitsplus!

Genau, einfach eine günstige Karte kaufen. Z.b. eine mit Atheros-Chip, damit hat man keine Probleme.

Wisst ihr denn nen Wlan adapter der ausreichend für dsl 16000 ist und der 100%ig auf Linux läuft und Linux schon die Treiber von Haus auf besitzt. Also Einfach den Adapter rein stecken ip und gateway vergeben, reboot und ab geht der Peter. Sollte auch nicht sehr teuer sein.

Jo Karten mit Atheros Chip sind top, wobei ich mit der Intel 3945 in meinem Laptop auch kein Stress hab auch WPA läuft.

Mein Notebook hat auch ein intel Wlan adapter. Unterstützt aber nur wep was ja noch zu verkraften wäre, aber kann mit mein 16000 kbit/s nur 4000 kbit/s übertragen dann. Ist einfach zu langsam.
